Newborn must haves

When we brought our little bundles of joy (identical twins) home from the hospital it was exciting and nerve wracking. We were new parents to twins. I had no idea what to do. My first time changing a diaper was in the hospital and I had never swaddled a baby before. I (and my husband) learned a lot very quickly.

I learned to swaddle after a diaper change without waking a sleeping baby. These were my favorite swaddles.

The velcro ensured the swaddle didn’t come open and the zipper along the bottom made it easy to change their diaper without taking their swaddle off. A zipper at the bottom of a swaddle might sound like a little thing but it was a life saver in the middle of the night when I was running on two consecutive hours of sleep.

While the velcro swaddles were perfect for sleeping I liked the muslin swaddles for when my babies were awake.

These muslin swaddles are made of breathable fabric so I was comfortable letting my babies use them. These swaddles were great for carrying my babies around the house, covering them when I was holding them, and covering them in their car seats.

Lets talk bottles. There are so many to pick from, but the Dr. Browns anti-colic bottles were my babies’ favorite.

We had gotten the 4 oz size and the 8 oz size. Save yourself the hassle and just get the 8 oz size from the start. It won’t be log before your baby is drinking for then the 4 oz bottle can hold.

I can’t talk about baby bottles without mentioning bottle drying wracks.

The most important thing to think about when picking a bottle drying wrack is space. Bottles and all the parts that come with a bottle take up a lot of space. I ended up getting two drying wracks because the first wasn’t big enough.

I’m a fan of A&D Diaper rash cream.

My babies caught a stomach bug and ended up with terrible diaper rash. We tried a few diaper rash creams and A&D worked the best.

I preferred a nail grinder instead of nail clippers

I was so nervous when it came to cuttings my babies’ nails. The nail clippers looked so big and their fingers were so small. I ended up using a nail grinder instead.

A baby bathtub that grows with your baby is a must have.

My babies have always loved bath time. We didn’t have a lot of space in our apartment so we decided to get a baby bath tube that would set in the the bigger bath tube.
